LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

We pulled up to Rhonda’s childhood home about midnight. We had made the trip to Littlefield many times to see her mom and dad. This is where she grew up, forty miles or so northwest of Lubbock. But this night was different. It was extremely dark. Upon unloading the car, I happened to look up at the night’s sky and it stopped me in my tracks. It was so beautiful! And through the middle of it all was the Milky Way in all its splendor. It was so well defined. This must have been something like what Abram saw when God ask him to count the stars and made him a promise.

Genesis 15: 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

Psalm 8 - a psalm of David.
1 LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
