For 7 in 7 I really wanted to cultivate my gift for arranging flowers. It seems like such a trivial gift, but the joy that a nice arrangement brings to people, or how special it makes an event like a shower or dinner party is an extension of my other gifting which is hospitality. Few things make someone feel as special or cared for as showing up with a beautiful arrangement of flowers. I had grandiose plans of doing 7 arrangements in 7 days, but....budget. So, I am going to sketch some arrangements and actually make some others. One of my BHAG’s (big hairy audacious goal) is to be able to have a garden that I can make arrangements from for friends and neighbors. I am a long ways away from that. This arrangement I sketched (roughly) would be in a short square vase and have pinks, purples and yellows. It would be an arrangement to take to someone on a hard day because the colors are just so cheerful. I love flowers and plants in general and how they speak to how much detail and thought God put into designing and creating our world.

And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Matthew 6:28-30

If there is this much beauty, care an attention to detail in the individual petals of a flower, how much more does He love and care for us?
